The Low Key Setup
The low key setup requires a black backdrop and a soft box with the addition of a reflector. The soft box should illuminate the subject at whichever angle is desired. If the correct camera settings are used, the camera can capture the detail of the light side of the subject in contrast with the dark and hidden side. A monochrome setting is ideal and effective.
These are the images I took when I experienced the low key setup for the first time. To improve these images to get the best outcome is for the images to be darker, the suggested camera settings are an aperture of F/5.6, a shutter speed of 1/125 and an ISO of 800, I used these settings in my shoot, so instead I could alter the ISO to be 400 and see what the results are.
